TREND: contrast soles (S/S 2011)

How to wear contrast soles: Contrast soles are undoubtedly a tricky trend to pull off, but they don’t have to rest solely in the domain of the fashion forward. The risk of donning bright colours on your feet is that one could easily come across looking like Ronald McDonald especially with the classic lace-up silhouette. If you’re not confident of that, stick to more casual styles like loafers or boat shoes.

General rule of thumb: Keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple — for example, an all-black ensemble is a sensible choice if you’re thinking of donning Jil Sander’s hot pink painted soles.
